Since its founding in Spangenberg Germany, WIKUS, has always been a world-leading band saw blade manufacturer and built an enviable reputation for products which offer maximum precision combined with top quality and unmatched performance.
Over the past 64 years, WIKUS has remained a leader through a policy of constant innovation and the search for new solutions. In line with this, the company offers a comprehensive range of band saw blades designed for specific customer applications.
Everybody’s needs and cutting challenges differ which is why we offer a variety of products. Our Level 1, 2 and 3 Bi-metal product options allow the end user to select a solution that best suites his desired needs on performance, resolves an issue and most importantly lowers the cost per cut every time a piece goes through his saw.
Many in the Fabrication Industry are cutting structural steels such as I-beams, varying cross-sections or profiles having thin wall sections which are often bundled.
A common complaint is tooth damage caused by excessive vibration, pieces shifting and the occasional blade pinching which many have experienced from time to time.
To cater to this application, WIKUS offers the Proflex M42 band saw blade for profile cutting. We understand the crucial importance of a strong tooth geometry in this demanding application and for that reason, fine-tuned the tooth geometry with a big beefy relief angle and a positive rake angle designed to shave and lift the chips rather than plow and compress them during the cut. In addition, a unique set pattern allows for a shared workload among the teeth while creating the kerf. This is proven to reduce vibration and tooth strippage which is often associated with bundle and profile cutting.
When challenged with blade pinching issues in larger I-beams and cross sections which have those pinching characteristics WIKUS offers the Proflex M42 SW. The extra set of the teeth allow for a wider kerf to be created during the cut. It offers the user a more consistent blade life combined with a smooth, quiet operation.
The Proflex M42 offers a number of significant advantages when cutting thin-walled profiles and structural shapes with relatively small cross-sections. Fabricators and machine-shops rely on it for better production planning and less downtime needed for unscheduled blade changes.
No matter what your manufacturing requirements are, there’s a WIKUS Blade to suit your application.
