Full Coverage Lift Magnets Quadruple Burn Table Output

Eriez’ (Erie, PA) air-operated Burn Table Full Coverage Lift Magnet Systems utilize a large full-contact magnetic surface area to move multiple parts in a single lift. Customer results prove these advanced systems can quadruple burn table production and improve safety conditions by reducing employee exposure.

A prominent Eriez customer and one of North America’s premier suppliers of carbon steel parts-to-print described their results with the lift magnet systems. “The operators were able to clear the parts off the table much more efficiently and safely and load full sheets onto the table with the same performance,” facility management said. “We’ve more than quadrupled our output on the table as a result.”

The Full Coverage Lift Magnet System can pick up single sheets of thinner material from a stack for table loading, down to 3/16″ sheet. This eliminates the need for spacers between sheets and time-consuming separation processes while loading the table. Operation of the system requires only an overhead hoist and an air supply. The air source can be from shop air, or a small, dedicated compressor mounted above on the crane bridge.

Industrial Magnetics adds to Transporter® EOAT Family Platform

Transporter Switch Series (TPS) Rare Earth Magnets from Industrial Magnetics, Inc. (Boyne City, MI) are ideal for use where vacuum cups and grippers are typically used for lifting and moving steel sheets, blanks, stamped parts and complete assemblies in automated press-to-press transfer or robotic pick and place applications. They are perfect for clean room environments, as there is NO dirty air exhausted to the atmosphere.

Powerful Rare Earth magnets positively hold the parts during transfer, greatly reducing the chance of slipping and shifting of your part due to oily coatings. A 5/3 directional control valve controls the grip/release function of the magnet. Easy to retrofit on existing tooling, the TPS Magnetic Transporters offer instantaneous pick-up and release — increasing production speeds and operating effectively in any orientation. To protect the surface finishes of parts during pickup and transfer, an optional low-skid version with a non-marring contact ring is also available.

Features and Benefits:

  • Uses less air than vacuum cups
  • Outlasts vacuum cups in most applications
  • Reduces noise
  • Grasps odd-shaped and perforated parts
  • Will not drop parts if system air-loss occurs
  • Maximum operating temperature 140°F (60°C)
  • Destacks without double blanking when the appropriate magnet is selected for the application
  • Double Acting

Optional Equipment:

  • V-brackets to keep rounds or 90° shapes centered on the magnet; made of UHMW to provide non-marring contact
  • Apple core mount
  • Ball mount
  • 3/8″ NPT mount
