The New Metal Standard: EOS Launches New Metal AM System

EOS (Novi, MI), the leading supplier of responsible manufacturing solutions, proudly announced its newest member of the EOS M 290 family, the EOS M 290-2, expanding the M 290 family of metal additive manufacturing (AM) systems to three, and setting a new productivity and quality standard for metal serial production. EOS will be in Booth W-432302.

Based on the time-tested EOS M 290 and developed through EOS’ AMCM group, the EOS M 290-2 system boasts two 400-watt lasers with full-field overlap and is compatible with the existing EOS M 290 process parameter sets: same focus and beam quality. The dual head EOS M 290-2 laser setup features:

  • Optimized laminar gas flow ensuring the comparability of material properties.
  • The familiar 250-x-250-x-325 mm (9.85”-x-9.85”-x-12.8”) build volume.
  • A digital scanner with active cooling, up to 7.0 m/s (23 ft./s).
  • Process quality and material library comparable to EOS M 290 single field.

With varying market demands, the EOS M 290-2 will be offered alongside the EOS M 290, as well as the recently introduced EOS M 290 1kW — developed for organizations that typically leverage copper and copper alloys for applications like heat exchangers and inductors.

An early adopter of the EOS M 290-2, Nordic-based AMEXCI piloted the new system and through the increased productivity of dual lasers attained a 76% reduction in cost-per-part for the tested application against the original EOS M 290 build.

additive manufacturing and wire laser additive manufacturing systems, both
utilizing direct energy deposition methods.

One-Off Robotics (Chattanooga, TN), a leader in the advanced manufacturing industry, is proud to announce the launch of its latest innovation in robotic metal additive manufacturing systems. These state-of-the-art systems are designed to revolutionize the production capabilities of the defense, aerospace, research, and specialized production sectors. One-Off Robotics will be in the KUKA booth, Booth N-236807. Founded in 2018 and headquartered in Chattanooga, One-Off Robotics has rapidly become a pivotal figure in the metal additive manufacturing industry, known for its precision, reliability, and cutting-edge technological solutions. The company’s new product line includes wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) and wire laser additive manufacturing (WLAM) systems, both utilizing direct energy deposition methods. These innovations promise to enhance production efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize the structural integrity of manufactured components. “Our latest robotic metal additive manufacturing cells are set to transform the manufacturing landscape in the United States,” said Nick Johnson, CEO of One-Off Robotics. “With improved speed, precision, and flexibility, our systems address not only the current needs of the market but also lay the groundwork for future advancements.”

Product features include:

  • High Efficiency: Systems support average deposition rates of 4 kg per hour for WAAM and

variable rates (up to 10 kg per hour) for WLAM, ensuring rapid production cycles.

  • Superior Quality: Enhanced control over the melt pool and part density leads to improved

mechanical properties of the final product. One-Off Robotics’ solutions are fully integrated with proprietary software that provides a single-point user interface, real-time quality control, and machine vision analysis. This integration ensures that all manufacturing processes are not only streamlined but also adaptable to the evolving demands of highly regulated industries. The company’s commitment to excellence and innovation is evident in its proactive approach to customer service and support. One-Off Robotics offers comprehensive training, technical support, and customer-focused consulting services to ensure optimal system performance and customer satisfaction. “We are not just selling robotics systems; we’re providing a gateway to the future of manufacturing,” Johnson added. “Our systems are designed to grow with our customers, enabling continuous improvement and exploration of new manufacturing possibilities.”
