Non-Destructive Testing

Nondestructive testing (NDT), also referred to as nondestructive examination (NDE) and nondestructive inspection (NDI), refers to any testing systems that do not permanently alter the workpiece or object being tested. NDT is useful in a multitude of fields, and can be performed on a wide variety of substances, including metals, food products, historical objects, and medical equipment. In manufacturing, NDT is a useful process for verifying a weld. NDT is capable of discovering cracks or porosity inside a weld, along with variations in density, that could result in a break or rupture. Common NDTs include visual inspection, ultrasonic, radiographic, liquid penetrant, magnetic-particle, and eddy-currant testing.
